The Adventures of Hazel: Progress Update

So I've been working on a website just for The Adventures of Hazel (A Picture Story) for the past few weeks. As I continued to work on the story, I decided to re-shoot some scenes and add more pictures to certain sections. This is one of the new photographs from The Land of Teacups. I'm really happy with how the story is looking so far and am super excited to launch the new site! I'll be posting a new photograph from the story each week until the site launches :)

I bought this magazine/manga/thingy the other day at a superfantastic bookstore. I love the freebies that came with it! The Amulet Cookie compact is my favorite. The center of the cookie is a comb! Totally sweet :)

When I got back from my holiday trip, I found this amazing package on my doorstep from Brandy! It was filled with all kinds of superfun stuff!

I got one of my favorite pairs of Indygrrrl earrings {the adorable little blue bears with wings}, some CranGrape lip balm from BalmBox, a hot pink cassette tape pouch, some Total Bitch towlettes for life's little annoyances, a Montagne Jeunesse Cristallised Honey & Passion Flower face mask, a candy stained glass suncatcher kit by Colorbok, a Garbage Pail Kids Card and a mini bag of fun little treasures :) All of this was wrapped up in polka dotted tissue, bright wrapping paper and a cupcake card! Totally Awesome!

Drying Time

This weekend, I finished up some paintings! Although I like to use gouache, watercolor and oil, my favorite paints to work with are aqua oils which, like all oil paints, take some time to dry. I've been working on these little 4" squares recently which make it easy to switch between paintings so I don't waste paint. These paintings should be dry in a couple of days so I can varnish them and put them in my etsy shop. Hooray!

Wow. I haven't posted in, well, a while. Although I do not have a photograph today, I thought I'd just say what's been going on over here in the superhouse lab.

***What I've been Doing***

Refinishing vintage pieces for my etsy shop
Making sure the bills are paid
Creating new stuff for my etsy shop (including some new paintings)
Reworking the next scene in The Adventures of Hazel
Making The Candy Room
Saving up for some much needed materials.
Eating really healthy food and snacks :)
Watching old episodes of a show called "Walking with Dinosaurs"
Giving the superhouse lab a makeover

I work best when I have lots of different things to do.
PRO: when I start finishing things, I have a lot of newly completed projects
CON: it takes a hot minute to finish.

A few days ago, still not happy with the next scene in The Adventures of Hazel, I decided to step away from it and concentrate on The Candy Room. I'm building the room from scratch so it's a bit of a project, especially since I've never created something like this. I made some major changes in the appearance of the next scene so I'm looking forward to rephotographing it tonight.

*A New Experiment* If I have something to post, I'm going to just go for it instead of worrying and then not posting anything at all.

As Hazel ran/flew from the storm, she noticed several swans hovering below her. The sound of whispering voices speaking a language that is only understood in dreams swelled from the golden swan. "We will wait for you in The Candy Room."

In the mail today, I got a super cool birthday present from my brother! Inside, I found two kinds of molding material: Oyumaru and Luna Clay. I decided to give the former a try first because of, well, the packaging :) Turns out this stuff was super fun and easy to work with. I was even able to cut it with scissors after softening it. Sweet! I haven't even tried the Luna Clay yet! My brother gets major bonus points for purchasing from fellow etsy seller, From Japan With Love. They have some out of control super supplies.

I love that this Honey Baby (Gary Thinking ©2007) comes with a little conversation bubble on a mini plastic stand. There are even six cute little stickers to use on the conversation bubble so she can say stuff. Totally awesome!
