About a month before the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I moved westward. The desert has never been a place I wanted to go but there are some interesting plants, lots of small bunnies and bleakly picturesque(?) views. Also, there is a supposedly temporary art installation out here by Ugo Rondinone called Seven Magic Mountains. According to the website sevenmagicmountains.com, these outdoor sculptures were intended to be available for viewing from May 2016 until May 2018. Although the artist and producers received a 3-year extension (according to this article on Travel Awaits), the installation does not appear to have a definite future. Personally, I hope it remains for as long as it lasts. These neon, pastel, metallic and brightly colored rock totems are a lovely sight to behold when the sky is blue and the world around is (as usual) kind of a beige color.

Pet Cemetery
The Pine Ridge Pet Cemetery located in Dedham, Massachusetts contains the Grave of Igloo, Admiral Richard Byrd's Dog and the Grave of Lizzie Borden's Dogs, both of which are featured on Roadside America's website. My friend Lindalea and I visited the cemetery in February. At the time we went, we didn't have exact directions (these are now available on the aforementioned site) so we walked through a muddy ravine and climbed up some moss covered stone steps before we found it.

The Adventures of Hazel: Progress Update
So I've been working on a website just for The Adventures of Hazel (A Picture Story) for the past few weeks. As I continued to work on the story, I decided to re-shoot some scenes and add more pictures to certain sections. This is one of the new photographs from The Land of Teacups. I'm really happy with how the story is looking so far and am super excited to launch the new site! I'll be posting a new photograph from the story each week until the site launches :)

Fun Stuff
I bought this magazine/manga/thingy the other day at a superfantastic bookstore. I love the freebies that came with it! The Amulet Cookie compact is my favorite. The center of the cookie is a comb! Totally sweet :)

The Adventures of Hazel {A Picture Story} Part 16
It was night by the time she reached the edge of the Deep Dark Woods. She had found The Candy Room* before. It wasn’t always so hard to locate but, in these lands, the doorway would be hidden in the woods.
*The Candy Room
Classification: Living Location
A magical room filled with some of the most unusual and exquisite candies in the universe, The Candy Room transports itself to all kinds of locations across the galaxies, never visiting the same spot twice.

The Adventures of Hazel {A Picture Story} Part 15
And suddenly there was something familiar. "The Candy Room," Hazel said aloud and, as she spoke, the words sparkled on the signpost.
