About a month before the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I moved westward. The desert has never been a place I wanted to go but there are some interesting plants, lots of small bunnies and bleakly picturesque(?) views. Also, there is a supposedly temporary art installation out here by Ugo Rondinone called Seven Magic Mountains. According to the website sevenmagicmountains.com, these outdoor sculptures were intended to be available for viewing from May 2016 until May 2018. Although the artist and producers received a 3-year extension (according to this article on Travel Awaits), the installation does not appear to have a definite future. Personally, I hope it remains for as long as it lasts. These neon, pastel, metallic and brightly colored rock totems are a lovely sight to behold when the sky is blue and the world around is (as usual) kind of a beige color.
